چکیده

D-dimer is a protein fragment consisted with two cross linked D domains from an original fibrinogen. It produced from the cleavage of cross-linked fibrin by plasmin in fibrinolysis process during thrombosis formation. Thrombosis occludes both arteries and veins which are the worldwide underlying leading cause of death. Merely, in the United States, more than 2,000 patients die each day for clot formation in coronary or cerebral arteries which consequence myocardial infarction and stroke[1]. Blood D-dimer represents highly activated coagulation or hemostasis process in various diseases including pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE), disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), coronary heart disease and clinically ill patients[2,3]. It is reported that mortality rate in clinically apparent PE is 30% and accounts for 5 – 10% of all in-hospital deaths, whereas 2 – 8% mortality rate for treated patients[4]. The prevalence of these diseases is high in the emergency department in human practice but comparatively lower in veterinary practice. However, the actual incidence in veterinary practice is unknown or undiagnosed and may be more common than the available existences in the litera1KNOTUS Co., Ltd.
